Death Penalty
Pro
If we kill criminals, we are as bad as them
Unnecessary: if we keep them in prison, they won’t commit crimes
Sometimes there are legal mistakes; wrongly accused
Deterrence: death penalty doesn’t stop people from committing crimes
We should deal with criminals in a logical way, not emotional; the family doesn’t really want to kill someone
Criminals also have human rights, life sentence is worse than death penalty
Historically, the death penalty is used in the wrong way; lower class citizens receive harsher punishments than higher class citizens
I can’t believe in the government; somebody gives money to the government to have someone wrongly arrested and killed
It won’t stop criminals; they aren’t scared of punishment;
“Why do we kill people who kill people to show killing people is wrong?”
Even if we definitely know they’re guilty, we should give them another chance
Society has some responsibility for making people murder, so we shouldn’t kill them
Life sentence is a much longer and harder punishment than being killed quickly
We can use the criminals as free labor, they can help society
Other ways are more effective at preventing crime than the death penalty (ex. Million needles…island? *do more research); death penalty is too easy
We should think about the executor, they could feel guilty
Premeditation= panned
Accidental = manslaughter
Sentence - verb 형벌
Con
They deserve it
Criminals know their behavior is wrong, but they still do it anyway
Waste of tax: we don’t need to keep them in the prison, send them to hell!
Just put criminals on island (?) and they should kill each other, feel same fear
We don’t have to protect criminals’ rights
Death penalty gives people a sense of security
Check if they’re psychopaths or not; we have to strongly punish psychopaths
We need the death penalty because the 2nd crime rate is increasing
Stops people from killing others
Everybody wants to live, so life in prison is not harsh enough
